Party senior leader, Mr Mohammad Sartaj Madni has reiterated that the Divisional status to Pir Panchal and Chenab Valley is call of the hour and the demands of these regions, if ignored can sow seeds of discord for future.
Mr Madni accused the Governor administration of functioning without taking public sentiment into consideration or assessment of requirements on ground. According to him, such a way of functioning is causing tensions and sowing seeds of discord for future in the already sensitive state having a very peculiar socio-political architecture.
Mr Madni said while it is a welcome step that Ladakh has been declared a s division, it is at the same time unfortunate that the Governor administration has ignored the development deficit in Pir Panchal andi in Chenab Valley. Madni said that by ignoring these regions , the administration is creating new fault lines in the state which is already riven with problems.
Mr Madni said that it was during the tenure of J&K PDP that equal representation to all the regions of the state was accorded without any partiality and bias. “It was during the tenure of the J&K PDP that highest number of universities in the state were created. Five new universities were created in the state with numerous satellite campuses including in Leh and Kargil. It was the government led by the J&K PDP that initiated the representation of the entire region of Ladakh and empowered both districts to Hill Development councils. First time cabinet representation during Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s regime to both the districts was accorded so that there is no tension within the region. By virtue of such a measure, both the districts of the region were making impressive strides in development,” said Madni.
The party leader added that however, the short sighted decisions being taken by the Governor administration at present by going against the public sentiment or the actual requirements is causing tensions and same can sow seeds of discord for future.
