Reciprocate Abhinandan’s release by providing travel documents to stranded PaK women in Kashmir

Party leader & Provincial President, Youth PDP, Er Nazir A Yatoo said that as a mark of Goodwill gesture Government of India must provide travel documents to stranded Pakistani Women who came to Kashmir under 2010 Rehabilitation Policy with their Kashmiri husbands.

Er Yatoo said that Wing Commander Abhinandan was released unharmed by Pakistani Government and Government of India as a Goodwill gesture must give travel documents to Pakistani women who are almost stranded after coming to our part of Kashmir under Government’s 2010 Rehabilitation Policy.

“These unfortunate women came to this part of Kashmir after their husbands got assurance from J&K Government under its 2010 “Rehabilitation Policy “. The policy was announced by the then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in year 2010 after getting a nod from New Delhi. 400 Pakistani women came to Kashmir with their Kashmiri husbands under the said policy. The women are living a miserable and stressful life as they are neither given citizenship rights nor have they been provided with a passport or any other documents like Adhar card/election card. Since they came to this part of Kashmir, they haven’t visited their loved ones living across the border “ said Er Yatoo

Er Nazir Yatoo added that women who have come from Pakistan are living a stressful life. “Many of them suffer from depression. The reason is they are not able to meet their parents, sisters or brothers. As if they are living in a jail”, he said. Er Yatoo added, “If the Government had come out with a rehabilitation policy way back in 2010, the issue of giving citizenship rights to the wives and children of ex Militants should have been discussed while formulating the policy. If Govt was not ready to give these women their due rights, why were they invited to come back with their husbands?” In his appeal to PM Modi, he said, “This is the right time to give them justice, I appeal PM Modi to come to their rescue.”
