Mehbooba expresses grief over tragic road accident in Peer Ki Gali

Terms recurring road mishaps in JK’s mountainous areas worrisome, asks admin to act

Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and President Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday expressed grief over the loss of lives in a tragic road accident in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Eleven students including nine girls were killed and seven others injured after a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled into a deep gorge near Peer Ki Gali on Mughal road in Shopian

The PDP President conveyed her sympathy to the families of the deceased passengers. She also expressed serious concern over the recurring road accidents in the mountainous regions of the state and demanded that the government must review the causes of the recurring fatal accidents and take measures to save the precious lives on priority.

Mehbooba also urged the administration to provide best medical treatment to the injured in the accident and wished speedy recovery to them.
